The Royale Regiment

The Royale Regiment Marching Band was so named in the early 1980’s, but the band has been around for much longer. Originally the Brooksville Juvenile Band, formed in 1925, the band later became the HHS Band in the late 1930’s. With a very long and proud tradition of excellence the Hernando High School Band has performed all across the state of Florida and on the national stage. The HHS Band has performed at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom’s Mainstreet Parade, Multiple bowl games and even the 1977 Presidential Innauguration Parade in Washington D.C. The Hernando High School Band consistently earns Superior ratings at FBA Assessments and can be seen all around town as they have over 20+ performances annually. They will be celebrating 100 Years of Music this Nov. 21st in concert at the Hernando High School Performing Arts Center where they will be performing a World Premiere for new composition commissioned by the band.

It is the purpose of the HHS Band to provide a high-quality music education that is fun, engaging, and emotional that promotes a lifetime love of music.

  • As we begin our year again I want to remind everyone that Band is a co-curricular activity and that all rehearsals and performances are part of the student grade. It is imperative they are at scheduled events.

  • All parents interested in helping in any way, please complete the Level 1 Volunteer application available here: Safe Volunteer - Hernando County School DistrictLevel 2 clearance is required for all trips. To become level 2, you must first complete level one and then contact safe schools and request Level 2 and they will walk you through the process. Keep in mind to become Level 2, it is not an over night process. Please plan accordingly.

  • The Band Calendar is updated to reflect the rest of the school year. Please contact Mr. Harrin if you have any questions. As events are brought to our attention they will be posted to the Calendar. Please make sure you are aware of all dates. Band performances and rehearsals are mandatory and now that we are fully operational again and "past" covid we will have a strict attendance policy.

  • The Hernando County School District has assigned class fees for Band, Instrument Rental, and for Band Colorguard, as well as Band Camp Fees. At Hernando High School we believe Band is for everyone regardless of financial situation and do not charge students for participation in Band. No fees will be collected and each student will received their 1st set of band apparel free. If for some reason a student needs more than one set of any apparel item there will be a charge for those items only. We are able to be FEE-LESS because every student is expected to participate in fundraiser activities sponsored by the HHS Band and the Royale Regiment Band Boosters. So, please continue to participate in those fundraisers as best you can and help keep Band for everyone!
